Many of you have mentioned being frustrated that things aren't working or the results slower than you wanted. Here are some things I've found that might help out. Best of luck!
- Your metabolism works fastest in the morning. Make sure you get a good, healthy breakfast to get your metabolism going right away.
- Your metabolism is the slowest at night. A LIGHT and simple dinner is best.
- Eat every 4 hours but NEVER after 9pm.
- Make sure you are getting enough protein (dairy, fish, eggs and beans). Your body needs the protein to burn fat (it is also helpful to eat protein with a carbohydrate. The carbs help those foods turn into proteins).
- Keep your sugar intake to 30g a day. The body uses sugar to store fat. It is possible you are already getting 30g of sugar just in fruit servings each day.
- Can the soda! After drinking one can of soda, you need 8 glasses of water to rehydrate your body. They are also packed with sugar!
- Watch the labels on some of the 'health food' energy bars or granola bars. Most have anywhere from 11g to 18g of sugar - almost 1/2 the daily amount. Adkins bars are protein packed and have the lowest sugar content I've seen.
- GET PLENTY OF REST!! (I say this while I'm posting at midnight). Studies show you lose weight faster if you get the recommended 8 hrs of sleep daily.
Visit http://www.everydayhealth.com/ to set up a profile and get more information. You can track what you eat and print a journal each day. The journal will break down your protein, sodium, fat, sugar, calories, etc. It makes it super easy to see where your strengths and weaknesses might be.
Most of the above info I took from the book, "Mastering Your Metabolism" by Julian Michaels.
